It all started with two simple donations. Karen Alexander donated youth tickets to The Utah Ballroom Dance performance. Then Raiti Waerness donated youth tickets to the Ruthie Foster concert.
As part of the Western States Arts Foundation grant, Ruthie Foster performed a short set at the school before the evening concert at the LCCA.
The students loved the performance and quickly asked for the free youth tickets that were available.
The Lopez Center for Community and the Arts is continually looking for ways to be more accessible to the whole community and especially families. And with these donations a conversation started over the past few months about how to make the center more accessible to families and youth.
Then Jo-Ann Lange walked in the door with the idea for a concert.
She would donate a performance and have all of the proceeds, go a Youth Ticket Fund that would provide free tickets to youth (ages six to 17) to attend Lopez Center sponsored concerts.
Jo-Ann Lange, Ginni Keith and Patty Johnson will be performing the benefit concert “Mostly Broadway” at Lopez Center on Sunday, August 4 at 3 p.m. with a short reception following. Read more on page 5.
