On Tuesday, Sept. 23, the Puget Sound Blood Center, the primary provider of blood to hospitals throughout western Washington, will hold a blood drive on Lopez Island from 12 to 6 p.m. at the Community Church in Lopez Village. The blood drive is being sponsored by the Lopez Island Lions Club.
Each one of us has an 80 percent chance that at some time in our lives we will need a blood transfusion. And if we do, that blood will be there waiting for us at the hospital when we need it, thanks to the volunteer blood donors who donate at blood drives like this one on Lopez Island.
A big thanks to all Lopez Island blood donors who continue to step up to the plate and roll up their sleeves to help their community.
