For the second year running, Lopez Library has been named a Star Library. The Star library recognition is given by the Library Journal, a national publication that reviews libraries across the country.

The only other library in Washington State to be named a “Star” was Seattle Public Library.

The libraries are judged on their usage statistics. The number of walk-ins, the rate of computer use, attendance at programs and the number of items circulating are all taken into consideration.

Library Director Lou Pray is pleased with the outcome of their second “Star” year. “I feel like we must be doing the right thing for our community if they are using us so much,” she said.
