As April is National Poetry month, we’ll start off the month with a visit from Samual Green, Washington State’s first Poet Laureate and longtime Waldron Island resident. Join us on Saturday, April 5, at 5 p.m. for reading and appetizers around the Library fire.
Remember, the library also hosts an ongoing open mike night for poetry the last Thursday of every month at 7 p.m. We’d love to hear your own work or any favorite poems you have to share.
In celebration of National Library Week (April 13-19), the library will be hosting a drawing for prizes (gift certificates, free books, book bags, etc.) to thank our loyal patrons. We’ll have freebies and food during the week for those coming to the library and a special Story Hour is planned. To enter the drawing (on our website or dropbox), tell us your favorite book and why and we’ll enter you in the giveaway. Later we’ll publish the list to share your favorites with the community. In addition, we will take your picture with your favorite book to create your own personal “Read” poster at no charge. Camera shy? Not a problem. The poster is optional, but a fun way to promote the love and wonder of reading.
