The seventh Annual Funhouse Science Fair will be held Saturday, March 29, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Funhouse on Orcas Island. The event is open to students of all grades on Orcas, Lopez, Shaw, Stuart and Waldron islands. The high school division will be open to students from San Juan Island for the first time. The fair is free and open to the public.

The Ninth Annual St. Patrick’s Extravaganza, sponsored by Soroptimist International of Friday Harbor, will take place Saturday, March 15, 6 p.m. at the San Juan Island Yacht Club. The Lopez Island School District Board of Directors, its Superintendent and staff, and its students have reason to celebrate. Although not officially certified, the bond election of February 19 appears to have been very successful for the district. With unofficial positive votes hovering near 75 percent, district officials are announcing victory.
