Primary results are in

There were approximately 140 ballots still left to be counted Friday, Aug. 9 at 5:30 p.m., according to the San Juan County Elections website. Of the 14,760 registered voters in San Juan County, there was a 54.28% voter turnout.

The San Juan Island Library Levy Lid Lift passed with 56.31% (2,250), voting yes and 43.69% (1,746), voting no.

Lopez Island School District #144 Proposition 1 Replacement and Safety Capital Levy passed with 64.85% (845) yes and 35.15% (458) voting no.

The County Council District 1 race will be between Kari McVeigh and Stephanie O’Day in the General Election.

Kari McVeigh received votes 50.28% (3,724)

Stephanie O’Day received 30.54% (3,363)

Adrian Kilpatrick received 18.9 % (1,400)

The County Council District 2 race will be between Rick Hughes and Justin Paulsen in the General Election.

Rick Hughes received 50.38% (3,600)

Justin Paulsen received 43.96% (3,140)

Jonathan Welch received 5.42% (387)
