September Hatch Newsletter Highlights for Orcas:Wonder Camp is hosting classes at the Imagine Festival at Doe Bay Resort on Saturday and Sunday, Sept 9-10, with Orcas instructors Joy Hughes – Making a Didgeridoo, Journaling with Debra Babcock (writing, drawing and painting), Watercolor still life and Nature Printing with Alexis Bouchard, and Blacksmithing with Zackarya Leck. A Special Farm-to-Fork lunch at Warm Valley Orchard on Sunday, Oct 1st during the Farm Tours benefits the Orcas School Garden. Join us in honoring our local food and fiber shed at Warm Valley Orchard. Lunch in the orchard is hosted by the Island Food Heroes program and features three courses of delicious local harvests prepared by The Kitchen. Enjoy island wine and ciders, appetizers from Girl Meets Dirt made from WVO fruits, with heritage grain bread and island cheeses preceding the sit-down lunch. Tours of the sheep-to yarn-to textile studio of Maria Nutt and the orchards, livestock and farm practices managed by Bob Nutt are available 10-noon and 2-4. Living Island Heritage experience for islanders and guests.
