Feb. 3
• A deputy stopped a vehicle in the Park Street School zone and issued an infraction for speeding.
• A Lopez deputy stopped a vehicle for speeding on Fisherman Bay Road. Driver was issued an infraction for speeding 40 miles per hour in a posted 25 miles per hour zone.
• At 2:35 p.m. a deputy in Friday Harbor received a report of a theft. This case in still under investigation.
Feb. 4
• At approximately 12:53 a.m., the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a traffic accident on Roche Harbor Road in the area of Terrace Drive on San Juan Island. A deputy arrived and found the driver had made her way out of the vehicle and was covered in mud.
• A deputy responded to a report of a vehicle almost colliding with an Eastsound business employee. The possible suspect was located and denied involvement. The incident was settled by contact with a deputy.
• A deputy stopped a vehicle on Roche Harbor Road because the driver was not wearing a safety belt and the vehicle registration was over one year expired. An infraction was issued for both violations.
• A deputy initiated a traffic stop on a speeding vehicle traveling 38 miles per hour in the posted 25 miles per hour zone in the area of the 500 block of Roche Harbor Road. A speed infraction was issued.
Feb. 5
• A deputy initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for speeding 35 miles per hour in the posted 25 miles per hour zone in the area of the 8400 block of Cattle Point Road. A speed infraction was issued.
• A deputy responded to an Eastsound business regarding an employee who assaulted their employer. After further investigation the incident was settled by deputy contact.
• A deputy initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in Friday Harbor because the driver was not wearing his safety belt. The driver was subsequently arrested on a felony warrant out of California for assault. Driver was booked into jail.
Feb. 6
• A deputy was dispatched to a hit-and-run accident with no injuries in the 10 block of North Beach Road, Eastsound. An unknown full sized, tan pickup drove off. A report was requested for insurance purposes.
• A driver hit a ferry worker on the Yakima at the Anacortes ferry terminal. The report was forwarded to Skagit County for further action.
Feb. 7
• In Friday Harbor, deputies responded to a 911 call of a forced entry burglary in progress. The reporting party was assaulted by the suspect and was struck on the head with a frying pan. Deputies arrived and arrested the suspect, still on the scene. The victim was treated and released.
• A Friday Harbor resident returned from an off-island trip to find the truck he had parked on Warbass Way missing and presumed stolen. The owner has no suspects in mind. A Washington State Patrol stolen report was filed and deputies will continue to watch for the truck.
• Deputies in Friday Harbor received a report of a domestic dispute. The investigation showed that no assault took place.
• A deputy in Friday harbor received a report of a vehicle prowl. The victim reported two wallets and a handgun stolen from his vehicle, which had been parked in his driveway. This case is still under investigation.
• Deputies in Friday Harbor received a report of a domestic dispute. The investigation showed that it was just a verbal argument between a couple.
Feb. 8
• A Lopez deputy took a report of mail theft. The victim reported a package and letters valued at $10-15 missing. There is no information on the suspect.
• A San Juan County Sheriff’s deputy took a report of a theft of a small patio table on Orcas Island. There are no known suspects or leads at this time.
Feb. 9
• A deputy met the reporting person at the Orcas Island substation in regards to threats that had occurred. A report was taken.
• A driver was cited for driving with a suspended license and violation of ignition interlock in Frida Harbor.
• A deputy in Friday Harbor received a report of a vehicle swerving on the roadway. The driver was contacted and the matter was referred to the Department of Licensing for a driver’s license re-exam.
• A Friday Harbor resident reported being assaulted and harassed by his former domestic partner. The harassment has been occurring for approximately two weeks and the assault occurred in the Friday Harbor area. Investigation is ongoing.
Feb. 10
• A deputy in Friday Harbor received a report of a citizen dispute. The reporting party was upset with an eviction notice that he had received, and thought that his landlord had gone into his room.
• An owner reported finding a vehicle that was reported stolen on February 7.
• Deputy responded to a landlord/tenant dispute on Crow Valley Road. Both parties were advised that the dispute was a civil matter.
• A driver was cited for operating a vehicle without Ignition Interlock Device.
• A deputy responded to a livestock loose in the road complaint in the 1900 block of Ferry Road, Lopez Island. The owner of the livestock was located and he made arrangements to retrieve his animals and repair the pen.
• A report was made for two pieces of identification stolen from an Eastsound resident.
• A deputy in Friday Harbor received a report of a possible theft.
• A deputy in Friday Harbor arrested a subject who had an outstanding warrant for assault.
• Four drivers were stopped for speeding in the 3000 block of Olga Road. The drivers were issued infractions for driving at the following speeds in a posted 25 miles per hour zone: 40 miles per hour; 35 miles per hour; 42 miles per hour; and 40 miles per hour.
• A Lopez Island deputy responded to an unwanted person complaint in the area of 1100 Ferry Road. The deputy determined the complaint involved a landlord and her tenant, who was planning to move out. There was no crime and both involved persons agreed to avoid one another in the future.
• An Eastsound business filed a report for malicious mischief.
• A Friday Harbor driver was issued an infraction for failure to wear a safety belt.
Feb. 11
• Three drivers were issued an infraction for failure to wear a safety belt within the Town of Friday Harbor.
• A driver was issued infractions for not having valid insurance, and for speeding 39 miles per hour in the posted 25 miles per hour zone within the Town of Friday Harbor.
• A Lopez Island deputy responded to Beverly Lane regarding a parking complaint. The deputy determined the parked tenant was not violating any laws and that the matter appeared to be the result of an ongoing civil dispute.
• Deputies had to remove an inmate from a holding cell and place him in isolation due to his hostile behavior towards other inmates and staff. The inmate had earlier flooded the cell.
Feb. 12
• Four drivers were issued infractions in the Town of Friday harbor for failure to wear safety belts.
• An Eastsound citizen reported an internet fraud.
• A driver was issued an infraction for speeding 58 miles per hour in a posted 45 miles per hour zone in the 2700 block of Cattle Point Road.
• A driver was issued an infraction for speeding 45 miles per hour in a posted 35 miles per hour zone in the 6700 block of Cattle Point Road.
• A package was taken from an Eastsound mailbox.
• A driver was cited for speeding 62 miles per hour in a 35 miles per hour zone.
• A vehicle in the Friday Harbor area reported that his vehicle was struck by another in a parking lot. Deputies helped the victim identify the suspect involved in the incident.
• A victim reported violation of a protection order. The victim was contacted through text and email via a cell phone. The case was referred to the Prosecuting Attorney’s office.
• San Juan EMS responded to a report of a roll over traffic accident on West Valley Road. A male subject was transported to Peace Health Hospital for treatment.
• A moped was vandalized in the Friday Harbor area. A description of the suspects was given, and investigation continues.
Feb. 13
• A deputy happened upon a rollover vehicle collision on Olga Road. Three persons on scene were interviewed. The driver of the vehicle could not be identified. A second vehicle had been abandoned, blocking access to a roadway. Both vehicles were impounded.
• Three drivers were issued infractions for driving without safety belts in the Town of Friday Harbor. One driver was also issued a Criminal Citation for driving with a suspended driver’s license in the third degree, and the passenger was issued an infraction for failing to wear a safety belt.
• A driver was cited for speeding 58 miles per hour in a 35 miles per hour zone.
• A possible residential burglary was investigated, and found to be a friend securing possessions for a property owner who is currently incarcerated.
Feb. 14
A Stuart Island resident reported his boat and mooring float stolen from Prevost Harbor, as he believed the mooring setup was too strong to break. On February 15, both the boat and float were found drifted to shore.
• Items were reported missing from lodging on Orcas Island.
• An Eastsound resident called about a family dispute.
• An Eastsound resident was the victim of a Nigerian fraud scam.
• A deputy responded to a domestic dispute in which a couple was separating. A female was putting items out of the apartment. She was told that if she damaged any of the items it would be a criminal offense. She denied any damage and continued to put out items.
• A deputy was called to a property near Obstruction Pass regarding an incoherent female. The female became more coherent and was left with the care of others on the property.
Feb. 15
• The reporting deputy was dispatched to an Unwanted Person call in the Friday Harbor area. The reporting deputy arrived and contacted the involved parties. The incident was determined to be verbal, and the parties were separated for the night.
• An Orcas Island resident received a bomb threat from a caller with an East Indian accent.
• An Orcas Island driver was given a warning for speeding.
Feb. 16
• An unwanted person was reported in Friday Harbor. A deputy responded and resolved the situation.
• A burglary was reported in Friday Harbor. A tablet and tablet case were stolen from the residence. Currently there are no suspects.
• A Lopez Island deputy was called regarding an ongoing property line dispute.
