The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls:
Nov. 16
• A wallet was found while the Town of Friday Harbor crew was on Larson Street. It was turned into dispatch.
• A Friday Harbor resident reported items and money stolen from her unlocked vehicle as it was parked near her residence.
• A subject reported his vehicle was damaged while it was parked in the ferry parking lot in Friday Harbor. A deputy requested video from security and was unable to locate any incident.
A Friday Harbor resident brought a found bicycle and brought it to the sheriff’s office for safe keeping.
• Deputies responded to the Port of Friday Harbor to investigate a domestic dispute. Deputies found it was a verbal dispute and no further law enforcement action was taken.
• A deputy was on an area check and found a male sleeping behind a business in Friday Harbor. The subject was warned not to camp in town – only at a designated camp site.
Nov. 17
• A Canon Powershot was brought in to dispatch as found property. A check of the memory card showed several concrete construction photos. A photo with a logo on a cement truck was utilized to contact the involved business.
• A Lopez deputy took a report of guitar theft.
• A Lopez Island resident was the victim of identity theft. The bank became suspicious of the off-island transaction and canceled it. There was no loss to the victim, and the suspect is unknown.
• A driver was stopped for speeding 52 mph in a posted 35 mph zone at Terrill Beach and Mt. Baker Road on Orcas Island. The driver was cited.
• An Eastsound resident reported her vehicle stolen by a family member. The vehicle is believed to be on the mainland.
Nov. 18
• A deputy was dispatched to a report of theft from a business in Friday Harbor. Contact was made and the suspect paid for the items. No charges were pursued.
• A deputy was dispatched to a two-vehicle, non-injury collision in Friday Harbor. A collision report was taken and no infractions were issued.
• Deputies responded to a residence in Friday Harbor to settle a domestic dispute. While at the location deputies found that the male was on court-ordered conditions not to consume alcohol. The male was found to be in violation of his court order.
• A deputy was dispatched to an agency assist in Friday Harbor. It turned out to be mainly a medical response.
• A deputy was contacted by a citizen who wished to report a hit-and-run collision. The victim’s vehicle was parked unoccupied in the Island Market parking lot in Eastsound. The owner discovered damage to the right side of the vehicle. No note was left.
Nov. 19
• A Lopez deputy issued a motorist a ticket to a driver speeding in the 1800 block of Mud Bay Road.
Nov. 20
• A Lopez deputy was dispatched for a dog picked up by a citizen in the roadway. The dog was reunited with the owner, who was warned for having a dog at large.
• A Friday Harbor resident contacted the sheriff’s office to report a juvenile problem within their household. It was found the juvenile had been acting in a threatening manner and threatened to hurt himself. The juvenile was arrested, evaluated at the emergency and then processed by juvenile services.
• A deputy took a report of a hit-and-run accident in Eastsound. The suspect’s vehicle is believed to be an SUV or a van. No one was injured and damage to the vehicle was minor.
Nov. 21
• A Lopez woman reported that someone had removed items from her unlocked car while parked in a Lopez Village parking lot.
• A Lopez Island woman reported an injured deer along Mud Bay Road. A deputy located the deer, who was bedded down alongside the road until the deputy drove up. The deer jumped up and scampered off, obviously uninjured. The reporting party was relieved to hear the deer was okay.
Nov. 22
• A deputy was contacted in reference to a vehicle prowl that occurred in the Friday Harbor area. The victim said several items had been removed from the vehicle over the previous night.
• A deputy was contacted in reference to a residential burglary that occurred in the Friday Harbor area. The victim reported missing cash from their residence. Evidence was gathered and the investigation continues.
• A deputy was contacted in reference to a trespassing that occurred in the San Juan Island area. The incident was investigated and found to be civil in nature.
• A San Juan deputy was contacted in reference to a theft. An informational report was taken and the information was passed to another agency for follow up.
• A Lopez deputy responded to the school for an animal at large complaint. The owner of the livestock was located and he removed his animals from school property without incident.
• A deputy took a stolen vehicle report on Orcas.
• The sheriff’s office responded to a collision in the area of Douglas Road and Madden Lane on San Juan Island. The reporting party stated the responsible party appeared under the influence of alcohol. She was later arrested for driving while intoxicated and processed at the sheriff’s office.
• A deputy was dispatched to a trespass that occurred in the San Juan Island area. The reporting deputy arrived and contacted the involved parties. The incident was settled by contact.
• A deputy was dispatched to the Orcas Island public school regarding a fight during an after-hours adult basketball game. No one on scene wanted to press charges.
