San Juan County Sheriff’s Department reported responding to these calls:
June 12: Expired tags prompted the arrest of an Orcas Island man for driving with a suspended license following an early morning traffic stop in the 1100 block of North Beach Road. The 24-year-old, who was pulled over shortly before 9 a.m., was reportedly driving a vehicle with tags that expired six months earlier, for which he was ticketed for as well.
June 16: An ill-conceived decision of where to park prompted a late-night arrest of a Lopez Island man for DUI. The 26-year-old, who was taken into custody at about 1 a.m., reportedly caught the attention of a deputy by leaving his pickup parked in the middle of an intersection in the 1700 block of Fisherman Bay Road.
– A 68-year-old San Juan Island man accused of shoplifting $37 in merchandise from a Friday Harbor grocery store was arrested for theft. The man, apprehended and detained by an employee at the Market Place, was taken into custody by authorities at about 4:30 p.m.
– A late-night collision with a guardrail led to the arrest of a San Juan Island woman for DUI. The 25-year-old, who was taken into custody near her Spring Street home shortly after 1 a.m., reportedly drove into a guard rail near the intersection of No. 2 Schoolhouse Road and Keri Lane earlier in the night, and was later apprehended while trying to guide her damaged sedan back home.
June 18: Three fully loaded fire extinguishers vanished from an Eastsound apartment complex in an apparent theft. All three were in plastic display cases and mounted on the wall of separate apartment buildings at the time they disappeared.
June 20: Allegations of assault led to the arrest of an Orcas Island man accused of punching his ex-wife’s boyfriend in the face. The 51-year-old was tracked down after leaving his ex-wife’s Eastsound apartment, where the mid-afternoon assault allegedly occurred, and taken into custody for misdemeanor assault.
June 21: A former bookkeeper of a San Juan Island couple is the leading suspect in an apparent theft of $8,000 or more in cash from their personal bank account. The couple reportedly became alarmed when the 36-year-old San Juan woman hired to take of their household and business bills failed to show up for work. They later discovered at least $8,000 unaccounted for and missing from a bank account.
– A San Juan Island man faces two new charges after a pair of warrants prompted his arrest outside a Friday Harbor tavern. The 32-year-old, who was taken into custody at about 1 a.m., was allegedly in possession of pot and of paraphernalia at the time of his warrant-related arrest.
June 22: A Seattle skipper was arrested for BUI (boating under the influence) following a mid-day encounter with the U.S. Coast Guard in San Juan Channel. The 49-year-old man, piloting a Bayliner that was seized at the time of the arrest, was escorted to the sheriff’s office in Eastsound, where he was booked for the offense. His blood-alcohol-level reportedly was more than three times the legal limit shortly after being taken into custody.
June 26: A San Juan Island woman was given a final warning following a complaint about repeated and prolonged barking by her dog. The 45-year-old was reportedly told to expect a ticket for a noise or nuisance infraction if another complaint about her barking dog prompts a visit by a deputy to her Kelsandro Circle home.
