Does the advent of warmer days give you the itch to plant something new? Ready to get started on a home project? Or are you standing at your mailbox, dreamily thumbing through colorful travel brochures to exotic places?

You are in luck, because the Friends of the Lopez Library are about to open another “pop-up” book sale, this one on the springtime themes of Gardening, Home Decorating/DIY, and Travel.

The Spring Book Sale pops up in the Lopez Library Community Meeting Room on Saturday, April 9, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. As a bonus to gardeners and would-be gardeners, the Master Gardeners on Lopez will be present throughout the sale to answer your questions about plants, bugs, soils, techniques, tools, resources and anything of gardening.

Proceeds from the Friends of the Lopez Library “pre-loved” book sales in the Spring and Fall and on July 4th, sales from the Friends shelves in the library corridors, and paperback book sales at the Lopez Ferry Landing support the many public activities of our STAR library. Sales of donated books fund library concerts, lectures, children’s programs and author events, including the upcoming talk on April 23 at LCCA by Lopezian Ginny Gilder, Olympic rowing champion and advocate of sports opportunities for girls.

The Friends also fund the display of local artwork in the library with new artwork installed every six weeks, artist’s receptions and talks. The Friends purchase special equipment and furniture for the library and host the annual, and very popular, Teddy Bear Picnic which has been held for over thirty years. The Friends have souvenir and fun/functional gift items available for purchase in the library including aprons, hoodies, T-shirts, note cards, and book totes.

Individually priced books range from 25 cents to $2 for hardback books, every one in giftable condition. A selection of fiction will be offered as well as the featured themes of gardening, travel and home improvement/decorating.
