Seasonal choral music brings a universal richness to the holiday season, serving as a link to the past, a celebration of the present and as a bridge and hope into the future.
At the heart of this musical tradition, the Orcas Choral Society presents its 31st annual “Joyous Sounds of Christmas” concerts on Saturday, Dec. 13 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 14 at 2 p.m. at the Orcas Center. Directed by Catherine Pederson and accompanied by Patty Johnson, the 50-member choir presents a festive variety of songs and carols that encompass different musical traditions, arrangements and instrumentation.
The song selection includes “White Christmas,” “The Sussex Carol,” “Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening,” “Christmas Kum Ba Ya,” “Sing we now of Christmas,” “A Christmas Echo,” and more.
The audience will be invited to join in traditional carol singing at this event, which is for community members young and old, for singers and listeners, and for everyone who wants to celebrate the festive holiday season surrounded by the musical warmth and joy of the Orcas Choral Society.
This is a joint production with the Orcas Center. Tickets are available through the Orcas Center Box Office, 376-ACT 1, or during normal box office hours and are $10 for adults and $3 per student/child.
