Fisherman Bay Water Association has received some questions concerning the water quality in Lopez Village. The public water systems in Lopez Village are regulated by the state Department of Health; they schedule and specify routine water quality monitoring including volatile organic compounds, inorganic compounds, herbicides, pesticides, bacteria/e-coli, lead/copper and radium.

FBWA well #3, located in the village, has been tested multiple times for the volatile organic compounds panel, including benzene, with none detected.

The other FBWA wells have been tested multiple times for the volatile organic compounds panel, including benzene, with none detected. Most of the water for the village comes from wells on Hummel Lake Road.

The two other public water systems surrounding the village, Common Field and Milagra Water System, have been tested multiple times for volatile organic compounds, including benzene, with none detected.

The reports are available to the public. Contact Steve Cade, Water Quality Manager of Fisherman Bay Water Association, by phone at (360) 468-3329 or email at scade@umgl.net. Results are also available from the Dept. of Health website at: http://www.doh.wa.gov/dataandstatisticalreports/environmentalhealth/drinkingwatersystemdata/sentryinternet.
