The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls:
May 24
• At about 10:45 a.m., a citizen called about a possible order violation that occurred 45 minutes earlier in Eastsound.
• At about 11:30 a.m., an Eastsound resident called about a theft that occurred at a home.
• A Lopez Island deputy was called to mediate an ongoing dispute between neighbors.
• Deputies responded to a two-vehicle collision on Orcas Road. After completion of the investigation, one of the drivers was arrested for driving under the influence.
• A Lopez Island deputy picked up two children’s bicycles that were abandoned at Agate Beach County Park in late April.
• Deputies were tasked to investigate a report of witness intimidation in a San Juan County Superior Court case.
• At approximately 10:40 p.m., deputies made contact with a San Juan Island resident who was having a dispute with her husband. The husband fled the scene prior to the deputies’ arrival.
May 25
• An investigation was conducted regarding theft on Orcas Island. A suspect was identified and has yet to be located. The investigation continues.
• A deputy was dispatched to an Eastsound hotel regarding a possible theft of money by an employee who did not return to work. A report was taken but the reporting person declined any further investigation.
• A Lopez deputy was dispatched to a report of a dead rabbit hanging from a vehicle.
• A Lopez deputy received a report of a hit-and-run collision in a parking lot.
May 26
• A Lopez deputy was dispatched to a report of vandalism. There were no witnesses, and a report was taken.
• A Lopez deputy was dispatched to a report of suspicious vehicles leaving a driveway. Vehicles were gone when the deputy arrived.
• An Orcas resident met a deputy at the Orcas sub-station regarding a possible hit-and-run accident that may have occurred in a parking lot.
May 27
• A moped driver reported harassment by a car driver and had the vehicle’s license plate information. A deputy took the moped driver’s statement and contacted the car driver. The car driver said that he had tried to advise the moped driver to stay on the edge of the road for safety and had obscenities yelled at him. Both parties were advised on right-of-way rules.
• A deputy was dispatched to a single vehicle accident in the San Juan Island area. The reporting deputy arrived but the involved vehicle was gone.
• At approximately 7:20 p.m., deputies made contact with an 11-year-old girl and her mother regarding a vehicle that was slowly driving thru the neighborhood, screaming obscenities at children.
• Lopez deputies responded to a Lopez Island residence for a report of a possible domestic violence. The involved persons had been arguing but said there was no physical assault. There was no evidence of a crime. The parties separated for the evening and a report was completed.
• At approximately 10:10 p.m., a male subject turned himself in pursuant to outstanding warrants.
• A San Juan property owner called to report a neighbor/property line dispute. Deputies went to the scene and advised both parties to take no further action until a property line survey was completed on May 30.
• A San Juan property owner called again to report a neighbor/property line dispute. Deputies went to the scene and again advised both parties to take no further action until the court ordered property line survey was completed.
• An Orcas Island deputy was dispatched to a report of a threat made in the Eastsound area. The deputy contacted the reporting party and took a report.
• A deputy was dispatched to a driver driving under the influence in the Friday Harbor area. The reporting deputy arrived and contacted the driver. The incident was unfounded.
• A deputy was dispatched to a citizen assist in the Friday Harbor area. A local business was having difficulty with an employee.
• A Lopez deputy was dispatched for an unwanted person at a residence. The subject was contacted and served a trespass warning letter. The subject left without incident.
• A Lopez deputy was dispatched to a theft and vandalism case involving a subject who had been previously removed from a property. Involved persons handled the issue civilly.
May 28
• At approximately 12:31 a.m., a deputy in Friday Harbor received a report of a fight that ended with the victim having his vehicle’s tire cut. Currently, there are no suspects in this case.
• At approximately 1:30 a.m., a female entered the sheriff’s office requesting security so she could board the ferry and leave her boyfriend.
• A Lopez deputy was dispatched for a report of intoxicated subject yelling threats behind a local business. The deputy located the subject having an animated conversation with his television. The subject agreed to quiet down and close the door to his room.
• A Lopez deputy was dispatched for a dispute between people at a holiday party. The subjects were separated for the remainder of the night.
• An Orcas Island deputy was dispatched to a reported theft the Eastsound area. A local woman had fuel siphoned from her car while it was parked in her driveway. A report was taken. The investigation is ongoing.
• A deputy was dispatched to a citizen dispute in the Friday Harbor area. The deputy contacted the caller, who said there was a problem with an ex-roommate.
• Lopez deputies were dispatched for a possible intruder. Deputies cleared the residence and found no evidence of any unlawful entry.
May 29
• A deputy was dispatched to the San Juan Island area for a call of domestic violence. A passerby reported seeing a couple arguing in the roadway. The reporting deputy arrived in the area and located the involved parties at a nearby residence.
• At 10:54 a.m. deputies in Friday Harbor received a report of a domestic dispute. One of the involved parties was arrested for assault 4th-degree Domestic Violence and was booked into the jail.
May 30
• A deputy spoke with a Lopez Island resident regarding a criminal trespass complaint. The incident involved the possible entry of a home on Lopez, without permission. There was no evidence of forced entry to the home or theft. There was evidence of entry, according to a maid. A report was taken.
