Support EMS levy

I want to encourage my fellow Lopezians to vote in support of the EMS Levy Proposition #1 during the August 3, 2021 primary election. As a former active Emergency Medical Technician for Lopez Fire and EMS, I know how important this additional funding support will be in continuing the highest level of care available for the Lopez Island community and visitors.

Lopez Fire & EMS call volumes have steadily increased over the years with over 400 EMS calls in 2020 and trending even higher for 2021! The island needs a new ambulance, replacement medical equipment and consumables, and emergency medications to maintain an appropriate level of emergency medical services for us all.

These are difficult times, and supporting an additional tax assessed on our homes is tough to swallow, but the monthly cost for the EMS Levy is minimal for all the good it does for our Lopez Community. Hopefully, you will never need these services but if you or a loved one does, isn’t good to know you will have the highest care available!
